About this item
- INCREASES MICROBIAL ACTIVITY IN SOIL. Our EM-1 compost accelerator is a liquid concentrate containing a broad spectrum of beneficial bacteria that harmoniously convert organic material into humus while binding nutrients to create a food source for plants.
- SPEED UP COMPOSTING TIME. This compost enhancer is able to create high-grade, nutrient-rich compost in less time than traditional methods thanks to the power of Effective Microorganisms.
- REDUCES UNWANTED ODORS. Thanks to the infusion of beneficial bacteria in our compost starter liquid, your high quality compost is able to ferment correctly rather than decompose, helping you avoid harsh odors that traditional composting methods would produce.
- WHAT IS “EM'' IN EM-1? EM is the abbreviation for Effective Microorganisms, a term coined in 1982 by agricultural scientist and university professor, Professor Dr. Teruo Higa. EM-1 is a multimicrobial mixture composed of lactic acid and phototrophic bacteria, yeast and ferment-active fungi that collectively create healthy natural vitamins, organic acids, minerals and various antioxidants.
- HOW TO USE EM-1 COMPOST ACTIVATOR. Using a watering can or sprayer, add 3 tablespoons of EM-1 Compost Activator to 1 gallon of water for every cubic foot of compost material. Apply as needed.
